That was a great book and movie. I love the subtle symbolism Kubrick places throughout his films. I always have to rewatch to catch the extra detail, especially The Shining and Eyes Wide Shut.

I also suspect that 'A Clockwork Orange' was used by Kubrick to illustrate how the media can manipulate us; that we find ourselves laughing at horrible scenes of violence because the scene is set to the overture in 'The Thieving Magpie', or because Alex does a little song and dance to 'Singing In The Rain' while cutting off the clothes of his victim, or because he chases another victim... a cat lady, no less... around the room with a sculpture of male genitalia. And all the while, we find ourselves rooting for Alex.

For a bit of not so subliminal seduction, be sure to check out the album cover in this scene...

You nailed what is and has been happening for a long time. I just read what you wrote as the movies are a 'Trigger' for me to a bout of Depression, as I'm the mother of a murdered child, by a Sociopath. Jeremy was 16 by the calander, but 12 by his physical and mental delayed growth. Still playing with Hot Wheels, no peach fuss or voice crack yet. Grew up in a small town of 5,800, he was not use to the violence that happened in bigger ones. Until we moved into a town in Shelby Co. home of Memphis, to a town of 17,000. His world changed, he didn't. You'd think 33 years would make it easier, but the world has gone crazy.

Gail, I am at a loss of words to fully comprehend your suffering. May God bless!

He has, maybe not in the health department. But in my Friends like you, and friends I made learning the truth of Intractible Pain. Some are Atheist, we had one goal, sensible pain laws. And the tremendous tonnage of illicit drugs that flow into the USA, which some blue states are legalizing. Clean needles, safe shoot up rooms are not the answer. Nor is forcing Narcan on people who don't miss use their 'allowed' meds.

Getting old is not fun. Robert Yoho educated me too.

GOD does not let you have more than you can bear. It changed me into the person I am today a Lioness defending Freedom, Children, and raising at least 1 lion, the other kow-tows to his wife. I've a 5 year old granddaughter who wraps me around her little fingers. Whoa be to any who would harm her. I don't have the words of a Master Wordsmith like you, Krauthammer or Walter E. Williams, but those of a concerned Christian and truth teller.

My Gail, I hardly have the skills of a Walter Williams but humbled you would make that pitch.

I read all 3, they deal with news and opinios of the news, you my Friend are a Historian who captures peoples minds and brings history alive. I learned history they didn't teach in school and it's been a long time since I've been in a school. I had US History, and World History.

Saw a commercial when hubby was watching Golf, middle schoolers walking through a US History musem to Johnny Cash's Ragged Old Flag, with awe and respect. That is a real history lesson. Just as Red Skelton's Pledge is. Then he flipped to the super bowl for the Anthem which Chris Stapleton did. 1 white player had tears running down his face, that spoke volumes. When most of the team members sood quitely. Watched a movie instead of the game. There was to much CRT in it. All Female Jet Fly over. With Masks under their oxygen masks. That looked stupid. 1 person per fighter jet.
