Great article. However, the 13th amendment did not free the slaves. Anyway, I don't read it that way. The 13th amendment nationalize slavery for crime and it was never ratified. It is still not the law of the land even today. He and I, and many parents of Murdered Children would totally disagree with Dr. Rush. Since even killers rarely serve more than 30% of their sentences. And kill again. It deterred horse and cattle Thieves. It eliminated the Psychopathic killer. People like Charles Manson. And prisons don't reform.
I know this is a different century, a totally different country from the one he lived in. Mental hospitals no longer exist, to house the Criminally Insane. Our schools Indoctrinate, they don't educate. Kids are drugged with ADHD drugs, especially boys. And many other drugs carry the same Homicide/Suicidal warnings. I asked what caused a 6-year-old to take a handgun to school and shoot his teacher. And the other 500+ children be herded into a gym, with no metal detectors on the school entrance., All I saw were cookie-cutter articles about how horrible, pray for the teacher by people who disregard religion, who in fact want to stamp Christianity out. But no answers to Red Flag questions, what were his parents or caregivers like, did they abuse him. What was his teacher like? Was she trained to handle a Hyperactive child? Was he bullied? What did the teacher do to set the incident off, and what drugs was he on? Who was his Shrink? What type of video or TV did he watch? Where did he get the handgun?
My Best friend's 8-year-old little girl in 1990 was Raped, Strangled with her own shoelaces, tied in a car blanket, still alive, and then thrown off a boat dock to drown. DNA proof. Still sits on TN DEATH ROW, because the Federal courts are not hearing cases. He took 30 yrs to finish his State appeals. And I'm the Mother of a Murdered child, 12 years old, by physical and mental make-up, 16 by the calendar. By a Sociopath for the JOLLIES to see what it felt like to kill. I never got over the GRIEF. Served 8.5 years out of a 20-year Plea Bargained sentence, and I had to fight for that starting 10 months after he was sentenced.
I worry about my 5-year-old granddaughter who is never still, who would panic and puke if you tried to get her to eat food she didn't want, and takes 2 hours to eat what she asked for. Other than that she is a delightful, loving child who doesn't go around bullying others.
Contradictory yes, as each case has to be fairly judged, and no 2 children are alike.

While they can't do a thing and rightly so to a 6-year-old, but pump him full of more drugs and send him to some LIBERAL SHRINK and tell him he's a suppressed girl.
