Mr. Smith, I am blown away by your observations and comments on this column, as well as the comments made by your readers. A most intelligent discussion!

The fact we are having intelligent discussion is proof positive there are cogent minded people still around. 👍

An excellent topic well covered. I think this cultural appropriation should go both ways.

For example, Nikola Tesla, a white Serbian European American invented alternating current, used across the world and here in America by those who claim their cultures are being appropriated.

Alexander Graham Bell, white, Scottish-born Canadian-American inventor, scientist, and engineer invented the telephone used by those complaining about their cultures being appropriated.

Martin Cooper, a white Chicago born American, invented the cell phone these other cultures carry while complaining about theirs being appropriated.

Maybe we ought to point this out.

Thanks for the kudos and indeed good catch on the "reverse" appropriation!

How does Hazel feel about men culturally appropriating the female identity from women? I find that to be the worst form cultural appropriation in existence.

And I forgot to say how much fun Goat Yoga looks to be!

Fantastic example of the hypocrisy of it all.

Hazel Scott seems to have culturally appropriated the behavior of a tentrum-throwing two-year-old. What a ridiculous whine-fest.

She has many more that are reeking of wining.

What would Hazel Scott (whose first name is appropriated from a tree) and her ilk say if the universally noxious White Man had BANNED Yoga, Sushi, Cinco de Mayo, Belly Dancing, Dreamcatchers, Henna, Cornrows, Acupuncture, Tea, Burritos, Reggae, Turmeric, and Feng Shui?

Why did I not think about that!

I encourage European folks to siphon off as many non-European, non-Christian influences as possible to create a more authentically European existence.

This is the sentence that stands out for me " If we’re going to start accusing every cultural adaptation of theft, we’d better brace ourselves for a world where nobody can enjoy anything without a guilt trip."

Because that is the aim of the establishment wherever we live.

America has the swamp: England has just elected the most authoritarian government since the days before the Magna Carta and Europe has the WEF and the EU.

Basically, unless we change the course of politics (and I can only see President Trump and the best parts of Project 2025 doing that) the futures of the next two generations at least will be fucked.

They seem unconcerned about what others have appropriated from us.

Thank you, sir, for illustrating (culturally) how narrow, hall monitor minds ruin the beauty of the forest by roping off the trees.
