The Antiquities Act of 1906 is a landmark piece of U.S. legislation that grants the President the authority to designate national monuments on federal lands to protect significant natural, cultural, or scientific features. Enacted on June 8, 1906, the Act was a response to growing concerns about the looting and destruction of Native American archaeological sites and other important cultural resources. Its primary purpose is safeguarding historic landmarks, structures, and objects of historic or scientific interest.

The Act enables the President to swiftly declare national monuments by public proclamation, bypassing the often-lengthy legislative process. This efficient process ensures that these designations cover the smallest area necessary to protect the designated objects. Additionally, the Act imposes penalties for the unauthorized excavation, injury, or destruction of antiquities on federal lands, with violators facing fines and imprisonment.

President Theodore Roosevelt was the first to use the Act, designating Devil's Tower in Wyoming as the first national monument in September 1906. Over the years, the Act has facilitated the protection of various sites, from archaeological treasures to natural landscapes and marine environments. This comprehensive approach to conservation, including marine environments, is an inspiring aspect of the Act. However, this presidential power has occasionally sparked controversy, particularly regarding the size and scope of protected areas and the impact on local economies.

Notable examples of its use include the designation of the Grand Canyon National Monument in 1908, which later became a national park, and the Statue of Liberty National Monument in 1924. The Act has recently established extensive marine conservation areas, such as the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument in 2006.

This is a topic worthy of additional discussion as related the overreach of presidential power.

And being perverted to destroy farm/ranch land, and lock up minerals, oil, and other resources. That and Imminent Domain. Klamath Falls, OR is a disaster. An excuse to destroy wild horses and cattle that strayed from broken fences. They shoot them and leave the carcass for wild prey.

I don't even think it's Constitutional. Just statutory.

How I am beginning to see the modern money system. People have always exchanged goods. I give you a rabbit today, you give me a fish tomorrow. This agreement can be silent, verbal, or written. The one who dishonors the agreement is shunned. Modern money extends this natural process for years, around the world. The bankers are the enforcers of agreements and the archivers of honor and dishonor. This system is immensely corruptible and a satanic paradise. But, it does enable global trade. It started thousands of years ago in Mediterranean/silk-road commerce. The fed and the irs are built on millennia of merchant law. Merchant law is a nightmare.

People love to hate the banking system. But it is pretty amazing and, considering the complexity of its job and the persistence of people who want to steal money, it works very well. In a way, it is the engine of the free enterprise system.

IMO almost all of the problems with it are not with it, but with the government overregulation and control of it.

Same. A lot of the woke stuff is by state fiat. Look up the “Community Reinvestment Act” which all but forces banks to donate to liberal ‘charities'.

I also wonder how many persons who rage against the ‘banking system’ don't understand that you use money in order to make more money?

"Look up the 'Community Reinvestment Act'...

Indeed. Much of the mortgage default crisis was caused by government laws forcing banks to lend to people who could not pay the money back. But the media, who called for those laws, never mention that fact when they write about 2008.

1912 The Aldrich bill is presented to Congress for

debate. This was very quickly identified as a bill to

benefit the bankers, or an expression for them which

was coined at the time, "The Money Trust." During the

debate, the Republican, Charles A. Lindbergh stated,

"The Aldrich plan is the Wall Street Plan. It means

another panic, if necessary, to intimidate the people.

Aldrich, paid by the government to represent the

people, proposes a plan for the trusts instead."

also read entries in this book for 1913.

Representative Charles A Lindbergh Sr. stated,

"This Act establishes the most gigantic trust on earth. When the President signs

this bill, the invisible government of the monetary power will be legalized. The

people may not know it immediately, but the day of reckoning is only a few years

removed ... The worst legislative crime of the ages is perpetrated by this

banking and currency bill."

1914 entry in the book...

One year after the passage of the Federal Reserve Bill, Representative Charles

A Lindbergh Sr., outlined how The Federal Reserve created the, "business

cycle," and how they manipulated that to their own advantage. He stated,

"To cause high prices, all the Federal Reserve Board will do will be to lower the

rediscount rate ... , producing an expansion of credit and a rising stock market,

then when ... businessmen are adjusted to these conditions, it can check ...

prosperity in mid-career by arbitrarily raising the rate of interest.

It can cause the pendulum of a rising and falling market to swing gently back

and forth by slight changes in the discount rate, or cause violent fluctuations by

a greater rate variation, and in either case it will possess inside information as to

financial conditions and advance knowledge of the coming change, either up or

down. This is the strongest, most dangerous advantage ever placed in the

hands of a special privilege class by any Government that ever existed.

The system is private, conducted for the sole purpose of obtaining the greatest

possible profits from the use of other people's money. They know in advance

when to create panics to their advantage. They also know when to stop

panic. Inflation and deflation work equally well for them when they control

finance."

This is how we define the the liberty of the glory of the children of God..

Romans 8:16-25

https://biblehub.com/drbc/romans/8.htm

18For I reckon that the sufferings of this time are not worthy to be compared with the glory to come that shall be revealed in us. 19For the expectation of the creature waiteth for the revelation of the sons of God. 20For the creature was made subject to vanity: not willingly, but by reason of him that made it subject, in hope. 21Because the creature also itself shall be delivered from the servitude of corruption, into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. 22For we know that every creature groaneth and travaileth in pain, even till now. 23And not only it, but ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit: even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption of the sons of God, the redemption of our body. 24For we are saved by hope. But hope that is seen is not hope. For what a man seeth, why doth he hope for? 25But if we hope for that which we see not, we wait for it with patience.

Back in the sixties, there were giant, hilly fields that weren't farmed. We used to race out there. Except for the 13 years that I was married to the daughter of a prostitute (she bragged about banging Perry Como), my life has been an absolute dream. And it continues. Praise Jesus.
