Religion, especially Christianity molded the American experiment. However, the First Amendment protects freedom of religion. Even though many of the founding fathers had a Christian belief or a foundational understanding of Christianity, didn’t they realize that over time, and through the First Amendment more and more people from other cultures would expand in the United States bringing a growth in religions other than Christianity? I have always wondered about this.
Indeed it was a completely different world and some things they had no way of seeing the future. The establishment clause does make sense to avoid Sharia Law.
Timothy Dwight, president of Yale University, and the grandson of Jonathan Edwards, delivered a sermon warning the American people about the influence of the Illuminati, and on October 24, 1798, George Washington wrote a letter to
William Russell expressing his concern about the influence of Jacobinism and the Illuminati in the United States.[71]
My grandfather told my father about the secret societies, and prior to 1930 most people knew about them.
Subsequently, almost all mention of them has been removed from our textbooks, encyclopedias, and reference books.
As a result, most people have never heard of the Illuminati, the Jacobins, or the secret societies that fomented the
bloody revolutions of the nineteenth century..."

At about 20,000 words for the whole thing, I think you have the makings of a nice little e-book. It's a challenging but worthy read.
It is indeed challenging to realize the evil, but necessary to prepare spiritually if anything.
