While Democrats congratulated themselves for passing the radical Respect for Marriage Act in the Senate, others warned of grave consequences. "Today the Senate, including 12 Republicans, voted to undermine religious freedom and expose Catholics to debilitating lawsuits brought by those seeking to silence our voices in the public square,” said CatholicVote President Brian Burch. "Those in Congress who dismissed legitimate warnings about this bill and the harms that would be caused by it must be held accountable.” https://www.cnsnews.com/article/washington/susan-jones/schumer-same-sex-marriage-bill-personal-me-conservatives-lament-anti

The United States Senate passed the Respect for Marriage Act (RFMA) without a vital amendment to protect religious freedom. Catholic commentators, including CatholicVote, have pointed out that the RFMA will lead to religious people and institutions being attacked in courts and forced to celebrate a redefinition of marriage. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops warned ahead of the vote that the bill “puts a giant target on people of faith.” The House is expected to quickly pass the Senate’s modified marriage bill. https://www.dailysignal.com/2022/11/29/united-states-senate-passes-radical-respect-for-marriage-act/

Ahead of the Tuesday Senate vote that saw 12 Republicans joining all Democrats to pass the radical marriage bill, Sen. Mike Lee, R-UT, outlined how the so-called Respect for Marriage Act will affect people of faith. “The only outcome we can expect from this legislation is for religious individuals, businesses, and institutions to spend more time and more money defending their God-given rights in court,” Lee said. Leftist operatives are demanding that Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett recuse herself from an upcoming case involving religious freedom and the LGBTQ agenda because the Catholic justice accepts the Church’s teachings on sexuality and marriage. “Call this what it is: anti-Catholic bigotry – and worse, an attempt to normalize that bigotry as a way of barring Christians from having a seat at the table in the highest court,” said CatholicVote’s Joshua Mercer. https://catholicvote.org/bigotry-leftists-demand-catholic-justice-recuse-herself-due-to-her-faith/

The U.S. Air Force Academy's diversity and inclusion training reportedly instructs cadets to avoid using “gendered” words like "mom and dad." "Some families are headed by single parents, grandparents, foster parents, two moms, two dads, etc.: consider ‘parent or caregiver’ instead of ‘mom and dad,’” the training reportedly states. “Use words that include all genders: ‘Folks’ or ‘Y’all’ instead of ‘guys’; ‘partner’ vs. ‘boyfriend or girlfriend. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/defense-national-security/air-force-academy-cadets-gendered-mom-dad

Liberal Catholic bishops in Germany failed to approve a document that would have radically undermined the Church’s teachings on homosexuality and “gender identity.” The 30-page document, entitled “Life in succeeding relationships – The principles of renewed sexual ethics,” was brought to a vote at a meeting of the German Bishops’ Conference’s “Synodal Way” in Frankfurt Thursday. The resolution needed a two-thirds majority to be adopted, but it did not meet that threshold. https://www.dailywire.com/news/german-bishops-fail-to-pass-document-radically-altering-church-teaching-on-sex

Numerous state health departments are opting to replace “mother” and “father” with “birth parent” and “non-birth parent” on official forms. As the public comment deadline approaches for the Department of Education’s proposed rule change to Title IX, over 160,000 messages from voters appear to have gone missing. The Biden administration's rule change would add "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" to anti-discrimination law, forcing schools nationwide to adopt LGBTQ ideology. The Regulations.gov website logged over 349,000 comments early last week, but the number dropped to 184,009 by Friday, the Daily Signal reported. Politico reported the drop was due to a “clerical error.” https://www.dailysignal.com/2022/09/10/biden-education-department-declines-to-explain-160000-missing-public-comments-on-redefining-sex-in-title-ix/

“Catholic parents with children in college have something other than rising tuition bills to worry about this fall,” the Catholic News Agency reports. Some Catholic schools and universities are adopting “gender-inclusive” housing policies as part of a broader embrace of gender ideology. Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, for example, offers a "gender-inclusive" housing option that consists of “two or more students [who] mutually agree to live in a gender-inclusive, multiple-occupancy bedroom, suite, or apartment.” Any student can opt for being matched with roommates of the opposite sex and the college doesn’t notify parents when students do so. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/252250/catholic-colleges-gender-inclusive-dorms-lgbt-student-housing

The Archdiocese of Omaha will delay the implementation of a new policy for Catholic schools on "gender identity" and gender dysphoria following “feedback and questions from school administrators and members of school communities.” The archdiocese will incorporate feedback from parents and educators to promulgate a new policy for the 2023–24 school year, according to a letter to parents from Archbishop George Lucas. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/252232/omaha-archdiocese-delay-revise-new-gender-identity-policy
